Projects in Development

In our second season, The Why Collective is producing multi-disciplinary works in collaboration with artists and creators all over New York City.

Not [      ] Enough

Not [     ] Enough is a new, interdisciplinary theatrical work currently in development. The experimental narrative explores the challenges of a young man who found himself caught between the hearing and Deaf worlds, and follows his journey with identity, acceptance, and belonging. Composed in ASL, with sign-for-sign English translation, this epic poem dance fusion is created equally for D/deaf and hearing audiences. Learn more about this project.

The Smallest Sound in the Smallest Space

Smallest Sound is a play-opera in its second iteration with The Why Collective. It follows four different University voice students participating in an investigation into the behavior of their teacher, Kent Randall, who has been publicly accused of sexual assault. Smallest Sound is written and conceived by Bryce McClendon.
